5 Easy Ways You Can Help The Environment

Do you like hiking, traveling, swimming in lakes and oceans? Are you obsessed with dolphins, like to hunt deer or basically anything to do with the great outdoors? If your answer is yes, then you should be very worried about the future of the environment.

Even before the change in government, our environment has been suffering. The mass amounts of pollution, burning of fossil fuels, deforestation, farming and industries, all have produced copious amounts of greenhouse gases. New policies that are being pushed into order will also further harm our Eco-systems, environment and planet. This is not an #AlternativeFact.

If  you think science is cool and want to help change the way we take care of our planet, there are several things you can do. These could be small acts that change your daily routine or larger contributions like running for a government position. It is crucial that we stand up for our planet and make a difference any way we can.

If you want to continue doing things you love without limitations and want your children and grandchildren and all of their children to live an amazing, healthy life outdoors, contact your representative and ask them to defend science and climate change! Love and be kind to our planet, that is all I ask. Here are some helpful tips to help the Environment today:

#1. Use Eco-friendly water bottles and containers: Plastic bottles are a thing of the past. It is time to switch over to glassware and metal containers. This includes taking a refillable cup to Starbucks for your Venti iced latte. Bring glassware and your own silverware to work to heat up your meals so you do not have to use paper plates and plastic forks.

#2. Recycle: Buy recyclable products. Use recyclable products. Practice recycling. Look up your cities recycling plan and follow it. You. Can. Do. It.

#3. Purchase Eco-friendly products: Check the label of the products you buy. Ensure that they are made of recycled materials or fund Eco-friendly programs that promote sustainability. When you are shopping for groceries, make sure to choose whole, organic, local, unpackaged products. This will help you eat healthier by staying clear of packaged, processed foods.

#4. Buy Less: I know that top from Zara is super cute but did you know that fast fashion companies are one of the top pollutants in our world? Wouldn’t you rather own a one of a kind item than something everyone else has anyways? We as Americans are obsessed with stuff. Donate things you don’t wear or use anymore. Try shopping vintage or second hand. This will also help you save money for experiences instead of things.

#5. Bring your own bag: When it comes to shopping, be sure to bring your own reusable bags and containers. This will help decrease the bags that are floating around in our waters. Plus canvas bags are stylish!

It may not seem like much, but by practicing these small acts everyday you can make an impact in saving the environment. You can also donate your time to local or national organizations to make a difference. The time to act is now so we can reap the benefits later.
