Hello pretty people of the world! Is anyone else Fall-ing in love with this weather? It has me feeling a little loopy and the recent time change hasn’t helped. The warm weather has had my allergies on a rampage and my sleep schedule has been bouncing around.
Since starting my first big girl job, I have been trying to take better care of my body by getting into a healthier routine. I somehow have been waking up and going to 6:30 am yoga…who am I?! Growing up is weird…Anyways hope you had a wonderful Monday and ask you to do 3 things for yourself this week. Feed your soul, clear your mind. Go to a yoga class, a run, make a new meal or play in the leaves. Take care of yourself with some much needed love.
One of my favorite ways of showing myself some love is a morning yoga class and finishing it up with a post-yoga smoothie! I like to fill my smoothies with lots of antioxidants, protein and vitamins to help my muscles recover and re-hydrate. It is so important to refuel your body after a workout. It help keeps your blood and metabolism flowing, so you continue to burn calories and maintain good circulation. I really like making a thick, hearty smoothie that I can eat with a spoon. It is so important to “eat” your smoothie instead of of sucking it down with a straw. When you sip on your smoothie, you consume a bunch of extra air which can lead to bloating and make you feel full when your body actually needs more energy.
One of my favorite smoothies to make lately is a yummy Pitaya-berry smoothie. It is super thick, a beautiful purple color and gives me the perfect amount of energy I need to start my morning. I like to pair this smoothie with a big glass of water and it is 100% vegan and only 320 calories!
I use a simple Ninja Bullet. It tastes like heaven and is a great way to start the morning. If you are looking for a delicious and nutritious treat, here is my go-to recipe:
My Favorite Post-Yoga Smoothie
1 frozen banana
28 grams frozen raspberries
0.2 cup of frozen blueberries
1 Pitaya Plus smoothie pack
1 cup baby spinach
1 scoop of Vega Oh Natural protein powder
8 oz non sweetened almond milk
Hemp seeds to top
I like to blend my milk and spinach first to make sure that it isn’t grainy then I add all my other ingredients. Once everything is blended, I don’t let my blender run too long because otherwise the smoothie will get hot and melt. Once you pour it into a cup or bowl, top with hemp seeds or anything of your choice and enjoy!
