This year, our annual family Christmas vacation took place at Villa Tortaturga in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. It was absolutely stunning! The location was close to the airport, was in a gated community and included access to a golf course, restaurants and a private beach.
The house included 24 hour staff, a pool, an outdoor bar, a gym and a movie theatre. It was honestly one of my favorite locations to date. Although the staff didn’t speak english, they were super accommodating and went above and beyond to ensure we had the best experience.
The chef created unreal dishes. We we’re served buffet style and chef ensured we always had a plethora of options to choose from. Every breakfast included fresh fruit and bacon, while lunch was served with a large green salad. My favorite meal had to be the day we had large chunks of fresh lobster. The chef was also very accommodating when it came to my intolerance to dairy.
Unlike other trips, where we would take multiple excursions throughout the stay, we decided to make this more of a relaxing vacation at the house. We were so close to the beach and had our pool with several seating areas that we could all be together and enjoy the amenities.
The only excursion we took, besides golf for the men on the trip, was a sunset cruise. Although the boat wasn’t what we planned on, we ended up making it a great time! We swam at a secluded beach and overlook the blue water. As always, I was so thankful for the time I was able to have with my family and some of my favorite people. We are so lucky to have this time together and share these experiences together. It made me so excited to celebrate our wedding with all of our families together.
The flight from Punta Cana to and from Chicago was super easy! We expedited ourselves for customs, which made the process upon arrival super easy and quick – I highly recommend to do the same if you are able to. The airport was super clean and flight was quick too. Definitely a great destination when you are in need of some sun!
